Random Chat
For all of us devotees of Opera's Random Chat thread...Pop and and share with the group!

First let me say many thanks to Frenzie for providing us with this space to continue meeting and chatting with all of the old friends from Opera, and maybe make some new ones.

I get the feeling we're going gain a whole new appreciation for the Hebrews of old wandering the desert...hehehe...

Pretty much unplayable then?
Actually if wasn't half as bad as it sounds. But it stuck out in my memory as an option I don't recall seeing anywhere else.

I had a racing game once where It would only run in something roughly the size of a postage stamp on the screen.
Ah yes, mid-'90s games also sometimes came with sliders to adjust the size of the game.

Civilization 3 no longer works and only shows a 'Font error' message.
That's a really helpful error report isn't it.  :faint:
Somewhat, but at least you know it's font-related! :D

That wasn't an option with that game unfortunately. I came to the conclusion that it just didn't like my graphic card for some reason.   :(

In Blade Runner LA is all Japan-ified. Maybe there's no connection. :P

Got to work and my boss said, "Want the day off? " I said okay!  :D :P

It would have been rude to refuse.

But keep the snow to yourself thanks.  :D

My first reaction would be - is this a test? I would probably reply to the boss, "Depends." Always a good answer.

Wait, you are saying that you got a day off because of the snow? If this applied here, I should be free for about four months per year.

Home made chicken soup but with missing ingredients

As long as chicken isn't the missing ingredient you can probably get away with calling it chicken soup.  :P

All you need is chicken bouillon. But maybe that should be chicken flavor soup. :P

Well it would be chicken flavour at least, but calling it soup is a bit of a stretch. Chicken tea maybe.  :D

Whatever you fancy, that's what I do when I make soup. Or just whatever is lying around in the vegetable rack.

I wanted to add barley in my soup, but uncooked barley takes a couple hours to cook. By the time my soup is ready it will be close to bedtime.

Same here, shouldn't take a couple of hours that's for sure.

Amazon offered me free expedited shipping so stuff would get here by Wednesday, instead of regular shipping which would get here by Thursday or Friday.

I opted to ignore their offer (even though it didn't come attached with a trial month of Prime and stuff like that) and the package, shipped from the warehouse in France yesterday, arrived a few hours ago.

Are they too efficient for their own good? Not exactly, because unless something has to be back-ordered every company has 24h-48h shipping. Usually it's 48h for Amazon due to coming from slightly more remote warehouses like southern France or southern Germany, but in this case it happened to be from northern France. But I think Amazon's the only one with this idea of charging extra for the norm. :P

The one thing that annoys me with Amazon is they always try to push Prime every time I place an order.
How many times do I need to decline it before they take the hint.

As a rule of thumb I try to avoid Amazon in favor of European businesses, but in cases where it's 10+% cheaper than the competition (like in this case) I tend to give in. I trust that European governments will protect Amazon's workers from its business practices even if Jeff Bezos walks away with the profits. Even then it's still very important to check different Amazonia, mainly .de and .fr[1], but occasionally also .co.uk, .it and .es.

It's not just Amazon doing that. For European companies you're also a thief of your own wallet if you don't at least quickly check out their Dutch, Belgian, German and French online presences. I assume the situation is similar across the EU.
12% cheaper in this case.

That 10% is better in your pocket than anybody else's, so can't blame you for that.
