For the first time in my life, I managed to miss a ship departure. And it's no fun trip, but job-related. I guess I'm now too old to live.

That's terrible. :(

I have on occasion "missed" the ferry I've taken hundreds of times but never in the sense that I had to stay in a hotel. Just that I had to wait half an hour or an hour, respectively.
